Is traveling as a model could be only a perfect dream? Not always.Like all trades, this too is crowned by difficult moments and stress. In this case the nerves of steel and professionalism are essential to put in our luggage. At that time the safety rules were not like those of today and several times I also found myself in danger of life. During some shots they made me jump from one building to another, for example. It was enough to take a false step to fall and end my career there.

I remember for example the shots with the British photographer of the British order (taking pictures for the Queen, for instance), Norman Parkinson. Scenery on a beach, a beautiful, blue sea. I am fully dressed, made up for the shot. And I have to climb a palm tree. I am therefore asked to “fall slowly”. And I find myself falling. Obviously like a stone, not with the grace and slowness sought. And so I spend all afternoon on that damn tree and make me do and redo the make-up, the hair, the clothes with the readiness of the staff. It may seem beautiful but it is not so. A lot of patience is needed both for you and for those who work with you. So; Climb up. Fall. Climb up and down again and again.

Norman was a very reserved photographer, he didn’t let himself be portrayed with his models. But maybe he liked me in the end or maybe my zeal on the tree had hit him. Anyway we have taken some magazine covers together and these are moments that I will remember forever. Moments that mademe grow as a professional but also as a person.
